Tigran Keryan, a member of the EcoServ project team, participated at the 5th European Citizen Science Association (ECSA) conference, held from April 3rd to April 6th, 2024, in Vienna. Hosted by BOKU University and the Museum of Natural History Vienna, the conference focused on the motto ‘Change’, highlighting that we are in a time of rapid change on multiple levels.
Tigran’s presentation, “A Citizen Science Approach to Transform Aquatic Ecosystem Management in Armenia,” addressed the critical challenges faced by Armenian aquatic ecosystems due to climate change, high population density, and a shortage of monitoring capabilities and specialists. He also presented how citizen science could play a vital role in sustainable ecosystem management by engaging local communities and schools in monitoring efforts and raising awareness.
